This is a lovely area in the Shenandoah Valley and nearby is the beautiful Virginia Arboretum at Blandy. The home base will be Snow Fielding's mill in Millwood. We will paint primarily in the mornings and late afternoons to catch the special light. The painting at right is from a plein air sketch I did from Snow Fielding's.

Through plein air demonstrations and landscape fundamentals, I explain how to apply those formats to the scene in front of you. I take you through the initial pencil sketch to the finished painting with tricks for drawing along the way. Instruction in composition and plein air painting fundamentals in all media. Plenty of individual attention. In addition, learn formulas for pre-mixed color colors for fast and quick procedures. Open to all levels and all media. In case of rain, we will work indoors from my photos.
