I love to explore the many facets of everyday life. The fascination comes from the my training in painting portraits and from my continued interest in human nature. So much can be said with the tilt of the head or the subtle gesture of a hand.
A requisite part of genre painting is the availability of models. Because of the nature of our busy society, I find it unfortunately necessary to sometimes work from photographs. The ideal situation is to have a stage in my studio where models are able to come and pose at length. Norman Rockwell did this in his studio where many members of the community posed for him while he painted his many poignant scenes of early American life, as he saw it.
