Ross Merrill's friends and colleagues remember a warm gentle artist and teacher, fond of painting the Eastern Shore and the Chesapeake Bay. He will also be remembered as a significant administrator at the National Gallery of Art as its chief of conservation.
The Washington Society of Landscape Painters participated in a paintout at his memorial service last May, and these are the paintings that will be on exhibit during this show. I will have one painting, see above.
